Autumn News 2021

This term Ash class has enjoyed welcoming the new year 3 into the class. We started the term sharing and thinking about what makes us unique. We shared what skills and qualities we all have and how we can build our self-esteem. The children enjoyed creating their own self-portraits using natural materials and explaining to others about themselves.

In history, we have had lots of fun learning about the Terrible Tudors. We learnt about how Henry the VIII changed history, his different wives and his most famous Ship the Mary Rose. The children explored what life was like in Tudors times. We learnt about the different houses, clothing and diet of the rich and poor Tudors. We also developed an understanding of what and why the Spainish Amarda took place.

In English, the children have been developing their Non-fiction writing. We enjoyed reading the Seal Surfer as a stimulus to write a diary entry, letters and recounts of events that happened to the boy and the seal throughout the seasons.

This term we had fun mixing colours as part of our Art project. The children develop an understanding of abstract art through studying the work of Wassily Kandinsky. The children explored colour mixing to create secondary and tertiary of colours. They also explored how to layer colours and used different tints and tones to make objects look 3D.
